Stop relying on energy companies and take control of your own energy.
Being able to live off grid is a huge step in making the world a brighter, cleaner, and greener place for everyone to live in.
Living off grid means that you are not drawing energy from the national grid, so you are powering your home from an alternative energy source. Usually, but not always, this will be a renewable energy source, and the best option is solar.
There are limits to what solar can do. Theoretically it is possible to take your home off grid with solar power – but not at an affordable price point, and it is not possible for every home.
Solar can however take you a huge step forwards towards reducing your dependence on the grid, and importantly shield you from the pressures of rising grid prices.
By investing in a solar panel and storage battery system you can save up to 70% on your energy bills, and massively reduce your carbon footprint at the same time.
So, whilst solar energy might not be able to take you completely off grid, it will still massively benefit your home.
Solar panels take you away from relying on grid energy by harnessing the power of the sun, so as long as there is daylight then your solar panels will create carbon free electricity to power your home.
Adding a storage battery system then allows you to use the energy your home has produced during the day, at night. Reducing your grid reliance even further than solar panels alone by taking the amount of grid energy you use down to the absolute minimum.
There are many advantages of cutting out the national grid. First, it is environmentally friendly. Being off grid is a powerful way to reduce your carbon emissions meaning the majority, if not all, of your energy and heating would be run from renewable energy sources.
Second, being off the grid means that you wouldn’t be paying for any expensive grid energy, saving you money on your bills.
There are two types of off grid living that you can follow. First, being partially off grid which means you have solar panels installed and are saving money on your energy bills.
The other is to do what some people have already chosen to do by being completely off grid. This means they have solar panels and an air source heat pump installed, as well as different other equipment in their home so they are completely disconnected from the grid.
It is important to say again. Not every home can go completely off grid.
In all honesty, No. Whilst theoretically it is possible to do, it’s definitely expensive, not all homes are suitable, and not all areas of the country are suitable to be completely off grid either.
If you live in a built-up city in the middle of the country, the chances are you’re not going to have the space to go completely off grid.
Installing a solar panel and battery system is a fantastic option for reducing your grid dependence. The great thing about a solar panel and battery system is that it will allow you to reduce your reliance on grid energy, and it will save you money.
You can then further reduce your grid dependence by installing things like an Air Source Heat Pump, which will in turn be powered by your solar system.
